Well-Known Local Photographer Expands Into Selling His Art As NFTs

[ad_1]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A local photographer is finding success through NFTs, or non-fungible tokens. Justin McErlain, who goes by “Uncle Jut” professionally, says he started shifting his focus to selling his photographs as NFTs after losing his job.

An NFT is a digital collectible, with a value in cryptocurrency. McErlain says he’s able to make more money by selling his work in this digital form and he has an entire community of support. He says, “Within two months, I was able to accumulate $45,000 worth of Ethereum, which is good money that’s life-changing money to a lot of people.” He continues, “There’s space in the NFT community for everybody, not just artists. From children up to my parents who are in their 60s, there’s a place in the space for everybody.”

Just about any digital file can be uploaded and sold as an NFT. That includes photographs, song files, movie clips, tweets and even memes.

Our question of the night: do you understand the appeal of NFTs?
