CHARLOTTE, NC (News Release) – StarMed Healthcare is pre-booking appointments for children ages 5-11 to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations. Appointments are available beginning Thursday, November 4, which is perfect timing before the holiday season.
Patients can click here to follow the registration process or call 980-445-9818 to book an appointment. There is no cost to get vaccinated, with or without insurance.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the use of this vaccine in children last week. A COVID-19 vaccination can protect children against the virus, and the people around those children. If a child does become infected with the virus, they may not become as sick as they would without the vaccine. Children and families are urged to continue social distancing,
wearing masks in crowded places and handwashing, even after receiving a vaccination.
“This is encouraging news and another great step toward ending the pandemic,” said Dr. Arin Piramzadian, Chief Medical Officer at StarMed Healthcare. “It will not only give our children the power to defeat the virus, but it will also provide them, their families, and their extending families better protection to celebrate the holidays together.”
To fully protect children, they’ll need a second shot of the vaccine three weeks after their first shot. The vaccination is scaled down for children ages 5-11. Their dose of the Pfizer vaccine is one-third that which an adult would receive. A smaller needle is used for the injection.
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Millions of people worldwide have received the vaccine.
