A series of rainmaking systems arrive over the next few days, bringing winter-like temperatures and some much-needed rain.
You can be forgiven if you’ve found it hard to get into the Christmas spirit so far this December. After back-to-back days at or above 75º in the Queen City, below-average temperatures are on the horizon. While some may lament the return of cooler temperatures, we can all agree that we need the rain. Some much-needed moisture arrives in the form of a cold front tomorrow afternoon, but much of the shower activity will be limited to the High Country. That said, a band of light/moderate rain may re-form around the Metro and eastward as the system re-organizes.
Although this first round of rain may be a disappointment for many in the Piedmont, we should still get our due. An area of low pressure will develop over the Deep South before sweeping into the Carolinas by Wednesday. Widespread rain is likely, but totals are anything but certain. That said, most communities, especially east of the Metro, can count on at least a half-inch of rain through Thursday. Warmer air returns by next weekend.
