MONROe, N.C. — Officers with the Monroe Police Department have charged a juvenile for his involvement in a near fatal shooting on Sunday.
On November 28th, officers responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim at the intersection of Craig Street and Jackson Street.
At the scene, officers say they discovered the victim of the shooting had already been taken by a third party to a local hospital in Monroe to be treated.
Based on the severity of the shooting, the Monroe Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force was called out to investigate the incident.
Detectives say further investigation reveals all the victim(s) of the shooting were all under the age of 18 and, therefore, all identities will remain protected.
Detectives also identified the suspect, who is a juvenile, and charged him with three counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder in this case.
Police say a firearm used in the shooting was also recovered.
The juvenile suspect is currently being held in a juvenile holding facility awaiting sentencing, according to a news release.
