Hopewell High School Placed On Lockdown Due To Police Activity In Area

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Hopewell High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon while police investigated a report in the area, according to authorities.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg school officials confirmed that the northwest Charlotte school was placed on lockdown due to police activity in the area.

The Huntersville Police Department say they are investigating a report of a person with a weapon near campus.

Police informed WCCB that they located the person in question and they were not armed.

The lockdown was lifted for the school before 2 p.m.

No further details have been released at this time.
